GP In The Community – January Edition

Our students at La Reina High School, an all-girls school in Thousand Oaks, CA, recently participated in a service event where they donated canned goods and built can-Christmas trees to benefit FOOD Share. FOOD Share distributes millions of pounds of healthy food every year both through their own programs such as FOOD Share and Friends mobile pantry, Senior Brown Bag Program, and Kids’ Farmers’ Market, as well as through distribution via partner agencies. You can see photos of the students with their can-Christmas tree below.

On November 11th, Jen Austgen and Dawn Habada joined our Montini High School (Lombard, IL) students during their lunch hour at school to extend additional support and provide the students with a lunch of sushi and noodle soup (see photos below). Topics included our gphomestay student travel policy and the Cambridge Video Contest. Students were also given the opportunity to help plan gphomestay events for the spring semester. These monthly lunches have allowed for the opportunity to vastly improve communications and build rapport with our students.

Three of our students at Crossroads College Preparatory School in St. Louis, MO already received their college acceptances listed below. Good for them for getting it under their belt at this time of year. All of their acceptances are to great universities, some even with scholarships! So exciting! We at GP are so proud of our students, teacher and team!
  1. Yufang Su was accepted to Seattle University.
  2. Andy Zhang was accepted to Case Western Reserve and Indiana University Bloomington.
  3. Nick Zhang was accepted to Beloit College with scholarship and to Cornell College with scholarship.
Here are some photos of another student, Zac Zhu Qinyu, from Concordia High School performing at St Mathews church in Glendale, CA as a part of their choir. Great job Zac!!!
