[Video] Communication Tips for Host Families

Most of us had to learn a new language at some point in our lives, whether it was in high school or college. But few of us had to then use that language soon after we learned it overseas.

For those of you that did have to use a second language abroad, you probably got used to asking others to repeat themselves, to speak more slowly, or to just smile and nod if you didn’t understand what another person was saying to you.

Whether you’ve had this experience or not, this advice will help you communicate more effectively with international students unused to using English every day at school and at home.
